The International >> 30 seconds Review and Trailer

Image
The World's biggest bank is using the money it has to fund terror and enslaving poor 3rd world nations by giving them loans they can't repay. When an informant and a colleague are killed, Louis Salinger (Clive Owen), an interpol officer decides to go outside the system. Will this work?

Rating: Yellow - a good timepass based on a rather common 'controversy theory'. While the story is good overall, for an evil supposed to be touching everyone's lives, it is not moving enough.

Love & Other Drugs >> 30 seconds Review and Trailer

Image
Jamie (Jake Gyllenhaal) gets the job of a drug representative thanks to his brother. While on the job he meets Maggie (Anne Hathaway) a charming young girl he falls first in lust, and, then in love with. The twist in the tale is that she's suffering from early onset Parkinson's while he's struggling to get his career on track.

Will he marry someone who might not even be the same person some time from now?

Rating: Green - Well, it is a run of the mill "falling in love with a dying person" story, almost. This is a living with a dying person story. The screenplay, the charming actors and their believable acting make this a must watch!

Neighbors 2 - Sorority Rising >> Movie Review and Trailer

Image
Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly (Rose Byrne) have just sold their house as they are moving to a bigger house for the growing family (second child on the way). But, they are in the escrow period - if in 30 days the buyers notice anything that makes them uncomfortable, they can go back on the deal. If this happens, Mac and Kelly will be bankrupt.

And, just then a group of girls led by Shelby (Chloë Grace Moretz) lands in the house next doors to open an 'outside the system' sorority - Kappa Nu -where they can party and dope and so on.

Teddy (Zac Effron) who is out of job due to the his police records - thanks to Mac and Kelly who got him in during his frat days - becomes the mentor of Kappa Nu. And, fun begins.

Rating: Yellow - for the crisp screenplay and original comic scenes - watch-out for the airbags. It is also miraculous how they put a vibrator in the hands of a baby girl multiple times in the movie and survived, without much noise.

R... Rajkumar >> Movie Review and Trailer

Image
Rajkumar (Shahid Kapoor ) is the right hand man of the underworld don Shivraj (Sonu Sood). He falls in love with Chanda (Sonakshi Sinha) whom Shivraj lusts. That's it.

Rating: Yellow - with barely any story, the movie is a good timepass because of its swift pace, action scenes and dialogues - "Silent ho ja, nahi to main violent ho jaunga."

Dilwale >> Movie Review and Trailer

Image
Kaali (Shahrukh Khan) is the adopted son of an underworld don, his #1 soldier and the heir to his throne. He falls in love with Meera (Kajol), who turns out to be the (real) daughter of the rival gang's don. Things don't go well, they go their different ways.

Years later, Ishita (Kriti Sanon), Meera's sister and Veer (Varun Dhawan), Kaali (now Raj)'s brother fall in love with each other. They then come to know about Kaali and Meera's story and decide to bring them together.

Rating: Red - for being a really loose movie. And like most SRK movies these days, one below its potential because of some loose handling in post-production. I'm willing to forgive the time I've wasted in watching this movie for the one song - Janam Janam, and the part of the video where their cars are dancing around each other.

Himmatwala >> Movie Review and Trailer

Image
Ravi (Ajay Devgan) returns to his village to seek revenge for the death of his father. And he has an affair with the daughter of his enemy. And, then the enemy tries to kill him. And, then.... it is the remake of a flop 1980s movie - you know it all.
Rating: Red - the IMDB rating for the original is 2*. The IMDB rating for this movie is 1*. The makers of the original would be happy I guess. This is the kind of melodramatic bullshit that made many people stop watching Bollywood movies at all, and it's back. The only good thing is - Sajid Khan lives upto his reputation.

Hitler: The Rise of Evil >> Review and Trailer

Image
An evil child has become an evil man. And he's out to kill all the Jews and take all the women. Beware!

Rating: Red for being nothing but extremely biased propaganda material. So biased that a person watching it may start sympathizing with Hitler, because of the way in which he has been presented as a monster. The shallow characterization can be summed up as - "he's evil, he'll kill you and he'll take away your woman." A lame attempt to play with your emotions against the inhuman acts of Hitler, and win a few awards.

Sherlock - The Abominable Bride >> Review and Trailer

Image
A mysterious bride is out in the city murdering people. Sherlock meanwhile is struggling to come to terms with his inner conflicts. He sets out to find the bride and prevent further murders, and, to come to terms with himself at the same time.

Rating: Yellow for good acting and screenplay. Yellow because it is somehow not gripping enough - maybe because you're expecting Sherlock to be solving cases, not his psychological problems.

Singh Saab the Great >> Movie Review and Trailer

Image
Shikha Chaturvedi (Amrita Rao) is working on a breaking news about Singh Saab (Sunny Deol) - a social worker - a criminal 'missing' from jail, when she realizes the tragedy that he has gone through in life.

She then joins him in the mission to end the reign of the evil goon-politician Bhoodev Singh (Prakash Raj).

Rating: Red - all the great acting - Sunny Deol, Rajit Kapoor, Manoj Pahwa, and Prakash Raj, and the excellent music, just adds to the pain. Put them in an 'art' movie and you would have a classic. What you have instead is a melodramatic 'entertainer'. Gets a red for the sheer waste of talent.

Once Upon A Time In Mexico >> Movie Review and Trailer

Image
El Mariachi (Antonio Banderas) is out to take revenge from the gang who killed his beloved. Throw in a crazy CIA official (Johnny Depp) who is out with his own personal agenda, and, some corrupt officials who are planning to kill the president and take over the country.

Rating: Yellow for a decent story, lot of good acting and bam-bam action.

Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara >> Movie Review and Trailer

Image
Continuing from Once upon a time in Mumbai...
Shoaib (Akshay Kumar) has now become a big name in the underworld and is ruthlessly heading towards becoming the king. He finds talent in Aslam (Imran Khan) which propels him towards the top spot even faster.
And, then he falls for a struggling starlet Jasmine (Sonakshi Sinha), who meanwhile develops a love affair with Aslam. The rest is what happens in a typical bollywood love story.

Rating: Yellow - the one thing that hits you during the movie repeatedly, if you've seen the first one, is Emraan Hashmi's absence. Akshay Kumar has just not been able to do justice to the cold character that Emraan had established. If the movie gets a Yellow its because of Imran and Sonakshi, the great dialogues and the decent screenplay.
A good time pass nevertheless.

Editor's Pick >> It's Kind Of A Funny Story >> Crisp Movie Review and Trailer

Image
A 16 year old teenager having clinical depression is considering jumping off a bridge when he decides to admit himself into a psychiatric ward instead. And, then he discovers life.

The pressure of the pending prestigious 'genius' school application to meet his parents expectations, and, the pain from the crush he has on his best friend's girl-friend take a back seat. By the time his stay there ends, he has figured out things that he could look forward to - his passions in life and a romantic friendship.
Rating: Green - let's hope they keep making movies like these, and we keep watching them. Great screenplay, great acting and great humour.
This movie is going to leave you with a smile on your face.

Mastizaade >> Movie Review and Trailer

Image
Couple of sex-starved guys desperately looking to get some action meet a stud friend who shares his secrets. Then they get action, lots of it. Until they bump into the sexy (read horny) Lele twins.

If you want to watch a porn-tease movie - a movie made by a group desperately trying to make a porn video, while trying to live upto their self-image of bollywood actors - this is it.

Rating: Red - watch MSG, MSG2 and upcoming MSG3 instead. God will save you.

PS: Hoping Google doesn't block my blog for even mentioning this movie!
